20th Annual Otolaryngology Update

The Annual Otolaryngology Update is a one-day conference geared toward practicing otolaryngologists, allied health professionals, and trainees who wish to enhance their knowledge on various topics spanning the different subspecialties of otolaryngology. A program committee uses divisional input and needs assessment to develop a program that reflects the current key areas of otolaryngology — head & neck surgery. The material will be presented via didactic lectures through Zoom, followed by virtual audience participation in question and answer sessions along with panel discussions on management of interesting cases.

Objectives:

1. Discuss the gender difference in surgical referral patterns in Ontario
2. Describe the current management of indications of cochlear implant and other implantable devices for hearing rehabilitation
3. Assess and treat laryngeal sequelae in COVID 19 ICU patients
4. Consider the different treatment options for patients with thyroid nodules, namely radiofrequency ablation
5. Discuss the current active surveillance options for patients with low-risk thyroid cancer
6. Become familiar with the up to date workup for children presenting with hearing loss
7. Recognize the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of patients with type 2 inflammation
8. Evaluate and manage patients with benign oral cavity lesions
