"The Effects of Hearing Loss, Amplification, and Cochlear Implantation on Auditory Scene Analysis"
OBJECTIVES
- Review the anatomy and physiology of the auditory system with an emphasis on how this contributes to auditory scene analysis
- Explore how sensorineural hearing loss affects these pathways and our ability to interpret our sound environment
- Discuss how hearing aids and cochlear implants can help with improving auditory scene analysis and review their limitations
- Summarize how this might affect an ENTs practice when dealing with hearing loss
